Quick Couplings

We offer Parker’s line of hydraulic and pneumatic quick couplings. They are used when hoses or implements require connection and disconnection without the use of tools. A quick coupling assembly consists of two parts—the coupler body and the nipple. When ordering, list coupler bodies and nipples as separate items rather than as a combination.

How to Select Quick Couplings

Answer the following questions to determine which quick coupler would be most ideal for your application.

  • What are the functional requirements of the coupling?
  • What is the maximum working pressure of the application?
  • Which seals and body material are compatible with the system’s fluid?
  • Is the application static or dynamic?
  • What size coupler is required?
  • What is the maximum pressure drop suitable for the application?
  • Does the application require the ability to connect and disconnect under pressure?
  • What is the media temperature and ambient temperature?
  • What end configurations are required?
  • Is an industry interchange coupler required?
  • Is air inclusion and fluid loss a concern in the application?

Non-Standard Options

Many of Parker’s coupling products are available with unique, non-standard options well suited to very specific applications.

Hydraulic Couplings | Snap-Tite Design

Parker offers the H Series and PH Series Snap-tite design couplings for hydraulic applications. In the H Series couplings, the poppet valve enables single or double shut-off valving. PH version couplers and nipples are valved with a connect-under-pressure feature. These steel couplers and nipples allow connection with H Series valved couplers and nipples when there is a residual pressure on the PH coupler/nipple side. It is recommended that only one half of the connection (coupler or nipple) be PH version, not both. Applications include industrial hydraulic lines, water and coolant lines, and mobile equipment.

Non-Spill Hydraulic Quick Couplings

Non-spill couplings are designed to minimize spillage and air inclusion when connecting or disconnecting. Parker’s line of non-spill couplings includes Series FF/FC, FEM/FEC, FS, FH, and NS.

FF Series couplings have a sleeve locking mechanism prevents accidental disconnection. FF Series couplings are widely used in the public utility market where hydraulic oil spillage can constitute a serious safety hazard, particularly in overhead bucket hoists that are used for maintenance of high-voltage power transmission lines. FC Series nipples provide a connect-under-pressure option for trapped pressures up to 3000 psi on the nipple side. * Note: FF Series 3/8″ parts numbers will be phased out and rationalized with FEM Series part numbers. Historically, the FF and FEM in the 3/8″ size have been interchangeable. *

FEM series couplings are designed to meet the stringent design and pressure requirements of ISO 16028 and are used where hydraulic spillage is a concern and global interchangeability with other manufacturers is important. The FEC Series nipple provides connect-under-pressure capability with up to 3000 PSI of trapped pressure in the nipple and are ideal for applications where residual pressure makes reconnect difficult. * Beginning November 2020, FEM Series couplings are undergoing a redesign. View FEM Series Redesigned with Enhanced Features and Benefits bulletin. *

FS Series stainless steel couplings have double shut-off flush mating valves that are suitable for sealing off media in chemical processing, chemical dispensing, food processing, and other corrosive applications.

FH Series high pressure couplings are an innovative product combining the advantages of a flush-face design with a highly technical performance of a rated pressure of 10,000 PSI.

NS Series Couplers and nipples are steel with nitrile seals. They utilize a PTFE back-up ring as additional support to the interface seal. Available in 1/2 inch through 1 inch
sizes.

High Pressure Hydraulic Couplings

Couplings Rated Up to 10,000 PSI

High Pressure hydraulic coupling options include:

Parker 71 Series, formerly Snap-Tite couplings they are designed for working pressures up to 10,000 psi. Available in a variety materials and with a wide range of body sizes. Flush-face ensure minimal air inclusion and fluid loss. Large flow chambers in the body and an exclusive valve design permit superior flow while maintaining low pressure drop.

1141 Series couplings are constructed of 303 stainless steel and rated pressure up to 10,000 psi and 17,000 psi intermittent pressure. Applications include hydraulic lines in corrosive environments, including marine.

3000 Series couplings have a steel body (with protective zinc plating) and polyurethane seal. They are used in hydraulic rams, portable hydraulic tools, and crimping equipment

HO Series have electroless nickel plating that provides corrosion resistance. They are used in paper and pulp processing and testing systems.

TC Series couplers are used in high pressure applications with hydraulic and mechanical shock (hydraulic jacking, construction equipment railway maintenance). However, they are only available in 3/8-inch size.
