Fluid Connectors and Hydraulics Sponsor “Innovation in Motion”
Parker Hannifin Corporation introduced its “Innovation in Motion” Tech Tour in 2005 as a mobile promotional and training classroom to support its distributors across the country. The Parker Tech Tour truck features interactive demonstrations, exhibits, new products and systems and technical training designed to bring a hands-on experience for Parker customers.
The truck consists of a tractor and trailer with a combined length of 79 feet. Together, the tractor and trailer weigh 79,000 lbs. The vehicle has several display areas including an 8 x 9 foot section that contains a six-passenger motion simulator ride. The vehicle travels across the country making daily stops at Parker Stores, Parker distributors and at selected customers identified by local distributors.
Training Classes
The training classes offer a variety of subjects including hydraulic maintenance, servo and proportional valves, dry technology plumbing, tube fabrication and many more. The truck is capable of offering a classroom for up to 12 participants on board. Classes are taught by distributor personnel or Parker territory managers as appropriate. A typical day includes set-up time, scheduled morning training classes, a luncheon with an open trailer period, followed by an afternoon training session and tear-down.
Support Trade Shows
The Parker Tech Tour truck has proved to be an important promotional feature for The Hope Group and The Leen Company in the past. During previous visits by the truck to the two companies, the results have been very positive. According to Phil Lund, VP of The Hope Group, the company’s upcoming
Open House and Trade Show in October, 2008 is an ideal venue for the truck.“The truck has proven to be very popular with our customers in previous visits and we expect a large turnout at our Open House and Trade Show in October, partly because the Tech Tour truck will be featured,” said Phil. The Open House is part of a year-long 75th Anniversary celebration of the founding of the company’s parent, THG Corporation.
Fluid Connectors/Hydraulics
The training classes available as part of the Tech Tour, include three major categories: Technology Focus, Fluid Connectors Focus and Hydraulics Focus.
The Technology Focus features:

Motion Simulator Ride
Undoubtedly the most fun for visitors to the Parker Tech Tour truck is the motion simulator ride from Doron Precision Systems, Inc. Known as the Transport 6 Entertainment Simulator, the machine provides up to six riders with a simulation of being in a race car. The simulator is powered by a complete Parker system, including hydraulics and fluid connector products used to integrate motion and video for a smooth ride.
